2:06 PM Haha ahh people have been scolding me for not blogging, so here i ammm :D I was feelings really lazy luhh. It took me really long to upload those photos! Stupid thing is, blogger (OR MAYBE IT'S JUST MINE) can only upload 5 pics at a time, max. And when I upload the next batch of 5, it wont be the placed at the bottom, meaning after the previous batch, but BEFORE. So the timeline of pictures are jumbled up. No please dont start reading from the bottom, cuz that's quite a stupid thing to do. -------- And so, on the day of departure from singapore, my family and I met up with ah chua and LL. LL's mum came with her, and told me to take care of LL. So I told her mum that I wont give LL food and starve her in HK. Her mum seems pretty excited about the whole idea. "Yes!! Gooood!!" And she starts laughing and happily slapping me on the arm. -------- The 3 of us boarded the plane and sat down, whilst my family sat a few rows behind us. It gave me a very satisfying feeling that we're unaccompanied minors traveling abroad. I watched 200 pounds beauty on the plane and my gawd, it's a really good movie. The ending's a bit weird but nonetheless I cried like 6-7 times throughout the whole show. Our row's pretty near the toilet, and this angmoh queueing there keep staring at me crying :/ For the whole journey, from the singapore airport, to the plane, to HK airport, LL and ah chua couldnt stop with the "Omg, I cant believe we're going to/in hk!". They said it like at least 8 times. When we finally reach our place in HK after a long car ride, ah chua sniggered and said: "Omg, I cant believe I'm in hk." "YOU'RE ALREADY IN MY ROOM, AND YOU STILL CANT BELIEVE YOU'RE IN HK!?" This situation repeats itself for the first 2 days in hk. Haha wth :D -------- The second day opens us to the start of the shopping frenzy!! We woke up pretty early that morning, at least I think we were up early. I cant rmb cuz everyday we wake up at such random times. There was a day where we woke up at 3pm in the afternoon. Anyway, so I took them to the KCR (train) station. LL had to by an octopus card (smth like ez-link) which already cost her S$30, with S$10 as deposit. At the end of her whole HK trip, she forgot to refund the card. We took the train to the last stop then change to the MTR (yes it's called the mtr in HK, dont ask me what it stands for cuz I dont know) to head towards mongkok. Now mongkok is the ultimate shopping district in HK. Actually, it really depends on what you're looking for. If branded stuff like M.A.C, LV, Hugo Boss all that expensive shit are what you're looking for, I'd suggest go to Tsim Sha Tsui or Causeway Bay. But for poor teenagers like us whose 1 year's savings are barely enough to let us TOUCH the LV bags, Mongkok is the place to be :D The whole of mongkok's packed with cheap stuff. It's just like the Bugis street in Singapore, only cheaper. In fact, I found a silver belt selling in Bugis street for 10 dollars, and I bought the exact same one in mongkok for 2 SGD. Imagine the big bucks that we can earn if we get stuff from HK and started selling them in S'pore. Haha! Anyway, back to the trip. As many people might have heard before, there's this ladies street in HK whereby they sell things at a super low price. Well, I wouldnt call it cheap, cuz although they have interesting things selling there, most of them are set at a price to cheat tourists with fat, bulging wallets. The thing to do now, is to BARGAIN. 1st, if you know how to speak in cantonese, act like you dont. If you really dont know how to speak in cantonese, good for you. 2nd. Look interested in their things, and they'll come straight to you saying "Halo! You wan buy? Veli cip ah!". Then they'll being passing you all their hats, sunglasses, and making you try on them. If you really do try on them, they'll go "ahh, veli nice (say nai-see) on you ah! Buy la! I see u so nice, so humsum, give you spehsial plice (price) la!" Ok, now to the important step. Look at the thing, give the frowning face and say "mmm, expensive." Then, they'll grab their calculator and press another price which really, doesnt make much of a difference. Now you, BE BOLD, BE DARING and press a super low number on the calculator (e.g, if the price they pressed is 200, go 120). Then they'll be the one frowning and saying "no no" and press smth like 150. Then it's your turn to decide what to do. You see, the whole stretch of ladies street (which is VERY long, trust me), sells practically the same stuff. If you see it in this shop, you're bound to see it again a few stalls down the road. If you din get a satisfactory price, go ahead, shake your heads, and walk away. Here comes the funny part. They'll come after you, shouting "ey missy (mee-see), I give you cip cip plice la! How much u wan?". And I'm telling you, they can pester you like mad. So you happily turn back, and press 120 on the calculator agn. They'll prolly give in to your price cuz they'd rather they get the business than somebody else out there. We got quite some stuff there, like watches and sunglasses :)) -------- There's this other street in Mongkok, called the "boh hai gai (sports shoes street)", which yup, you got it, sells sports shoes. The whole strectch of streets prolly have more than 50 shops, all selling shoes, not just sports shoes. They're cheap, but dont worry, they're real as well. It's just that, because they're not registered outlets of those brands like nike and everything, they're allowed to change the price of the shoes they sell. Since they're so many shops selling the same shoes, they lower their price to remain competitive, just like ladies street. Anyway, we din go there, cuz we werent interested in buying sports shoes with that small, limited amount of money we have. The whole day was spent walking in shopping centres, sitting down and eat when our legs are sore and our heads are aching, then shopping again. Seriously, we live up to the HK quote "shop and eat and shop and eat". -------- I dont recommend shopping in Mongkok, or in fact any of the busy shopping districts out in HK island during weekends, cuz all you get is people rudely pushing you around, perverted uncles squeezing beside you on the packed trains, and the detested pickpockets loitering around on the streets. So, for the weekends, we stayed around in the new territories. True, shopping is not fantastic, but it's already not bad, it being residential areas. We shopped (duh) a bit, ate (duh) a bit. We also bought tons and tons of snacks and rented vcds at a price of 1SGD for 1 movie. Remembering Abel's recommendation, we rented jackass 2. It's a crazy and disturbing show, but outright hilarious. You should watch it with a bunch of friends :D There was one night we stayed up to watch movies, then went back to our room for girl talk. We just talked and talked and ate and ate, until 5 am in the morning. The next day was the day we all woke up at 3pm. -------- So most of the other days were spent shopping in other places, though they seem bland and expensive, as compared to the trip to Mongkok. Seriously, shirts at 4-5 SGD, Shorts at 6-10 SGD, shoes at 10 SGD. Really, Mongkok is the place to be. -------- Here comes Ocean Park. For everyone out there, please, PLEASE dont waste your money and time to go to HK Disneyland. If you want some themepark fun, just go to ocean park. HK Disneyland is too overrated. It's expensive (300HKD per entrance), small (smallest disneyland in the whole world), and there's nothing to play. Yes sure there're nice things to see, and the fireworks every night's beautiful, but other than that, it's no good. Go to japan's, florida's, just not HK's. After disneyland opened, Ocean park's business went plummeting down. I guess only people who went to both Ocean park and Disneyland in HK would know which's better. Ocean park have all the rides, like the turbo drop, viking, roller coasters and everything. They even have shark aquariums, jelly fish aquariums and of course, dolphin shows. The dolphins and seals doing their tricks are really an eyeopener. So, we went there, while my younger sister tagged along. We played a wet ride, a 360 degree ride, and ahh tons of them. Ah chua was feeling unwell halfway through the day, so we took her to the sickbay where she can rest for a while. At the end of the day, we took the long awaited cable car down to the lower land. We tried to shoot a powerpuff girl video to the theme song in the cable car, but failed miserably. LL, for the first time in my whole life, sat down, silent and really still. When I moved about in the cable car, she'd shake and say "ey eyy! dont move dont move!!!". She's so afraid that exaggerated movement would cause the carraige to dislocate. -------- In short, we did a whole lot of shopping in HK, had a hard time stuffing all our things back into the luggage, and of course, had alot of fun. I never knew holidays with friends can be so fun, well that's cuz I've never been on one before this. Honestly, it was one of the best holidays I've every had :)) LL and ah chua, we're the bimbos! -------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Haha looks like there's nobody driving rite, but my dad's there la :D ![]() ![]() It was the second last night in HK, and LL, ah chua and I went to the KCR station, planning to take the train to somewhere and shop. LL and I went to check how much we have left in our octopus card. LL have like 300 dollars plus (she din even add in that much in the first place), while I only have 16 HKD left. I know it's not gonna last me for the rest of the day, so I started emptying my wallet and counting how much coins I have. LL and ah chua walked in front and entered the gates. I followed behind. They took a escalator up, and when I looked up, I realized they're going to the platform of the wrong direction. I shouted to them to come down, and I walked towards the platform of the correct direction. When I was on the escalator, I could hear the train arriving at the station. I ran up, and the doors to the train were still open. Then, the signal for doors closing rang, and I panicked, so I ran towards the carraige, and the door closed in on me, with one of my arms still dangling outside the door. I know the door would open again, so when it did, I shouted for LL and ah chua to hurry up, but they were TOO SLOW!! the doors closed almost immediately and LL and ah chua were left stranded outside. I put up one finger, a seemingly very effective sign language to tell them I'll be waiting at the next stop. Tired and aching from the excitement (yea, I can vividly rmb feeling pain where the doors closed on my arm), I looked for a seat and sat down. I closed my eyes and eventually dozed off. After a while, I vaguely heard something like "the next stop..." and "doors closing". then my brains started processing these information : You've reached the next stop, the doors are closing, you're going to miss this stop, LL and ah chua's gonna get off and unable to find you, they're gonna panic cuz they have no phone wadsoever. I jerked up from my sleep on the train, and at the same time jerked up from my sleep on my bed in my room in singapore. HAHA do you guys get it. The shock I receieved in my dream caused me to wake up in my dreams, also to wake up in reality. Haha my heart was really thumping SO fast when I woke up in reality. Okay wadever. Crappy nightmare.
